Top Tips to Transform your Home in 2013

Our latest press release brings top tips from Michael as luxe, open plan living is the defining look for 2013

According to living space and design expert, Michael Wright, director at Yorkshire-based Michael Wright Kitchens and Interiors, creating a serene environment is about choosing the right colours and textures to complement lighting in the home.
As we see more people improving instead of moving, homeowners are re-modelling their homes to incorporate a number of zones into one multi-functional space, says Michael.

Creating a serene, luxurious living space is achievable by selecting the right materials, textures and colours. The desire to incorporate kitchen and living space into one area is also seeing typical kitchen appliances concealed behind kitchen furniture, enhancing the overall space and allowing for a streamlined design.

These are Michaels tips for achieving The Look for 2013:

– Choose a scheme for living space that comprises no more than three key colours. This will help to keep the space fresh and unfussy. Even a fresh lick of paint to update your space for 2013 will make a real difference. Earthy colours and tones such as grey are going to transform your environment.

– Mix man-made and natural materials together to create a sustainable, relaxed feel. Stainless steel and wood are great examples and can enhance light with the reflection of the steel, whilst warming the environment with the rich, deep textures of the wood.

– Busy lives mean homeowners require a sanctuary to come home to after work. Neutral toned kitchen furniture creates a restful, yet modern living space and allows for more focus on relaxing lighting.

– Lighting can really transform a room. Pay close attention to set up and design. High voltage spot lights are practical for cooking  but fit a dimmer which will transform the mood and the overall look of your living space when its time to sit back and relax. LED lighting can help to transform a room and a mood quickly and efficiently. The lights can be combined in any shape to produce a specific layout reflecting the ambience you want to create.

– Inject different textures into a space with the addition of a rug. This will instantly add a different colour into a room as well as enhance comfort and build depth.
